The subject of “those with” is one of the most mooted subjects among Davidians. It has brought much debate, confusion, discord, and even division among God’s last day people. Many Davidians believe only 144,000 will be saved from the Seventh-day Adventist Church during the Slaughter of Ezekiel 9—no more and no less. Conversely, there are also many Davidians who believe that there will be more than a 144,000 that will survive the Slaughter of Ezekiel 9 and comprise the first-fruits. This topic is commonly referred to as “those with” but since the SRod never refers to them as such they will not be referred to them here by that phrase either. Bro. Houteff referred to those who will be laid to rest before the slaughter of Ezekiel 9 or who have died under the Third Angel’s Message since 1844 as “with the 144,000” or “one with the 144,000” which is an entirely different subject and will not be treated in this exposition. Unfortunately, the proponents of this teaching haven’t been able to explain it without the gross use of private interpretation, symbols, and types that are not applicable and thus have brought reproach upon its glaring rays.
